When Albany's sprawling D&H Building was built in the early 1900s, it hid theDelaware & Hudson railyard from view. To allow safe access to the Hudson River, the building featured a pedestrian "subway" beneath the rails. Interstate 787 has replaced the yard and subway, but AlbanyMural captures the spirit of that linkage with a 7,500 s.f. trompe l'oeil mural on a highway underpass linking Broadway & the riverfront.

The mural also honors noteworthy ships that have sailed the river throughout history, represented by bronze medalions in granite block walls and carved stone detail. There's even a Delft tile depiction of Henry Hudson's Halve Mein (Half Moon).
