Q.   Are your public art projects often significantly over or under your original budget?
Q.   Is setting a price for commissioned artworks a more random than scientific process?
Q.   Are you having difficulty controlling your project budget as you work?

A.   If you answer "yes" to any of these three questions, it's time to learn more about cost analysis, budgeting, and financial control. If you think these words belong to a foreign language, then perhaps you'd best learn about them from a fellow artist, an artist with an M.B.A. Public artist and educator Jan-Marie Spanard, M.F.A., M.B.A., Ph.D. will be offering two financial management workshops for Artists who create works on commission, Public Artists and Artists who create works of art for later sale (non-commission).

The morning session, Cost Analysis for Artists Workshop, provides a structure for determining your actual total costs. The afternoon session, Project Budgeting for Artists, draws on the work completed in the morning to guide you in developing a pricing strategy, and managing the budget while a work is in progress. The two workshops complement each other and attendance at both is recommended for optimal learning.
